On Friday, May 17 we are pleased to announce that we've hired Gary Shuchuck to be our new new Head Coach and General Manager out our boy's 14u & 16u teams.
Gary Robert Shuchuk is a Canadian professional ice hockey coach and former forward. Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Shuchuk started his National Hockey League career with the Detroit Red Wings in 1990, after playing 4 seasons at the University of Wisconsin. Shuchuk went to the Los Angeles Kings as part of the Paul Coffey-Jimmy Carson trade, and is probably best known for scoring the game-winning goal for the Kings in double overtime of game 5 of the 1993 Smythe Division finals against the Vancouver Canucks.
He left the NHL after the 1996 season. He has since been an assistant coach of the University of Wisconsin and Michigan Tech University men's ice hockey teams. In 2017, he was named the head coach of the Janesville Jets of the North American Hockey League. He was released halfway through the 2018–19 season. In May of 2019 he was hired by Madison Capitols AAA Organization to be the Head Coach & General Manager of the Madison Capitols Boy's 14u & 16u teams.
