Jeff was born, raised and grew up playing hockey in Minnesota. After youth hockey and skating at the local outdoor rinks, Jeff played varsity hockey at Apple Valley High School, where he was team Captain his senior year. Turning down the opportunity to play in the USHL, he went directly to college and played hockey at Bemidji State University. Jeff was academic all-conference in hockey at Bemidji State.
This is Jeff’s 18th winter season coaching hockey. He has coached at all levels, from many years of high school hockey to mite hockey, and everything in the middle. Jeff has also coached both high school and youth hockey during many summers, ran his own summer hockey school for several years, and has assisted at other camps/hockey schools. In addition to teaching the game of hockey, Jeff has taught undergraduate economics and has been a guest lecturer at the UW Law School.
2004 & U19 Girls Coach
Rick has been involved in hockey for over forty years; enjoying the sport first as a player and later sharing his love for the sport through coaching. As a Madison native, Rick played high school hockey at Madison West winning the State Title in 1983. His junior career began with the Sioux City Muskateers of the United States Hockey League, to later be traded to the Madison Capitols where he played under former olympian, Bob Suter. He continued as a player at UW – Stevens Point, winning the NCAA Championship in 1989 as a player. After attending the Boston Bruins free agent camp, Rick passed on a semi-pro contract with the Knoxville Cherokees of the ECHL to become an Assistant Coach at UW – Stevens Point and helped contribute to a second straight NCAA Championship. Following his role as an Assistant Coach at the college level, Rick moved to the Junior A’s, coaching the Omaha Lancers (USHL), finishing up his tenure there third in the country. He followed the lancers with an Assistant Coaching position with the Indianapolis Junior Ice in the (NAJHL), making it to the National Tournament. Rick moved back home to Wisconsin and coached 16 seasons at Stoughton High School, getting to 6 sectional finals and two State Tournament appearances, and coached 4 years at Oregon High School. These days he coaches where his junior career first started- The Madison Capitols.
U16 Girls Coach
A proud Madison Capitol Alum, Rachel (Bible) Kenyon played Defense for the University of Wisconsin where she was a four-year letter winner and three time national champion (2006, 2007, & 2009). She was the assistant coach for the Madison Capitols U19 girls team in 2011 and an active part of the Western Wisconsin Blue Devils coaching staff from 2011-2015. The 2015-2016 season led Rachel back to the Capitols organization as an assistant coach for the 2003 boys team.
U16 Girls Asst Coach
A native of Ottawa, Ontario, Jasmine Giles was a four-year letter winner during her time with the Wisconsin women’s hockey program (‘06-’10). Giles won two national championships with the Badgers in 2007 and 2009, and served as team captain her senior year. Giles also represented Canada in a three-game U-22 series between Canada and the U.S. during the 2007-08 season. Over the last two years, Giles has coached the University of Wisconsin women’s club A hockey team ('14-'16).
