Former Madison Capitol AAA forward Mick Messner who played 6 seasons in our AAA program and currently plays for the USHL team along with teammate Kamil Saldlocha

NHL Central Scouting released their Preliminary Players to Watch list for the 2017 NHL Draft. The annual list identifies players using the following criteria:

  • A Rating – Indicates a 1st round candidate
  • B Rating – Indicates a 2nd/3rd round candidate
  • C Rating – Indicates a 4th/5th/6th round candidate
  • LV (Limited Viewing) – Injured players who have not had sufficient viewings to be categorized

68 players on USHL rosters this season were named to the list. The 68 players is the second most amount of prospects listed for any junior league in the world. 49 of the 68 players have NCAA Division I college commitments. In addition, eight USHL alumni, seven of which are playing college hockey, were named to the September list. The news comes after the 2016 NHL Draft in which the USHL had 30 or more players selected in four consecutive NHL Drafts.

The USHL will feature top NHL Draft-eligible talent in the annual USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in Sioux Falls, SD on January 10, 2017.
